Nokia introduces the Lumia 1320, a mid-range 6-inch handset coming to Europe and Asia

Hindi News: Nokia came to Abu Dhabi prepared to put on a full show. At its annual Nokia World conference, the company just pulled the wraps off Batman -- its code name for the Lumia 1320. It comes with a 5-megapixel camera, dual-core processor and 6-inch 720p display. Price-wise, this is meant to be more affordable than it's equally new1520 sibling, costing $339 before taxes. The 1320 comes with the new Nokia camera app, a more rounded design similar to the Lumia 625, and it'll launch early 2014 in China and Vietnam before rolling out across Asia, and Europe in four colors -- orange, yellow, black and white.

Spice Smart Flo Pace 3 phablet with Android 4.2 launched for Rs. 7,499

 

Spice has expanded its Smart Flo Pace smartphone series and launched Smart Flo Pace 3 for Rs. 7,499, and it will available on retail shelves shortly, according to the company.

The Spice Smart Flo Pace 3 (Mi-502n) comes with a 5-inch TFT LCD display with 480x800 pixels resolution. It is powered by dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 512MB RAM. The phablet runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and includes 4GB of inbuilt storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The new phablet sports an 8-megapixel rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and also includes a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The device measures 148.5x78.9x10.4mm and weighs about 190 grams. Connectivity options on the SmartFlo Pace 3 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS and A-GPS. It is a dual-SIM device (GSM+GSM) with no 3G network support. The phablet also packs a 2100mAh battery and will be available in Black and White colour variants.

Spice launched the Smart Flo Pace 2 (Mi-502) Android smartphone for Rs. 6,999 back in April. The dual-SIM smartphone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and has 512MB of RAM. It sports a 5-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) capacitive touch screen and features a 5-megapixel rear camera with dual LED Flash and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. The Smart Flo Pace 2 Mi-502 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and comes pre-loaded with apps such as Hoopz, Nimbuzz and WhatsApp.

Intel Bay Trail benchmarks show big boost for Windows 8.1 and Android tablets

Things are changing at Intel. In the desktop world, the company is used to staggering its efforts with a "tick-tock" product cycle. First it manufactures an existing chip design at a smaller size of transistor ("tick") and then, usually a year later, it improves the architecture while sticking to the same transistor size ("tock").Bay Trail, by contrast, is a mobile class chip that represents both a tick and a tock. It makes major changes on previous Clover Trail design, while also shifting from 32nm to 22nm transistors. A jump like that holds major promise, so we were keen to benchmark Bay Trail at the earliest opportunity. Intel allowed us into a hotel room in central London to do just that, using the highest-spec quad-core Z3770 chip inside a reference tablet, and the results look impressive. ZTE planning bigger, better Firefox OS phone for US release next year

ZTE is one of the few companies making a sly side-bet on Firefox OS, and next year it's planning to double-down on that initial wager with the launch of a second handset running Mozilla's smartphone platform. Speaking with IDG's Michael Kan at Expo Comm China 2013, ZTE's Executive VP He Shiyou expects the device to land first half 2014, with a larger display than its predecessor, a dual-core processor, a "revamped user experience" and, of course, a low price tag. The exec also said that, with approximately 100,000 units sold, demand for the ZTE Open "has exceeded supply," and he anticipates double that figure in total sales. ZTE deliberately manufactured the Open on a small scale, but is optimistic about future adoption of Firefox OS. Shiyou believes HTML5-based apps will become more relevant as speedy network technology like LTE reduces reliance on native software, stating: "In the future, the app store business model will be no more."

Lenovo Miix is a watered-down ThinkPad Tablet 2, starts at $500 (hands-on)

Comb through Lenovo's current product lineup, and you'll find a little something for everyone. A Windows 8 tablet for businesses? Check. How 'bout a consumer model? Yep, that too. But hey, you can never have too many, right? After releasing the IdeaTab Lynx tablet, Lenovo is now launching the Miix, a 10-inch model that's also meant to be used with a keyboard. All told, it's sort of like a watered-down ThinkPad Tablet 2, insofar as it has the same rubbery, soft-touch finish and some very similar specs. Chiefly, it has a dual-core Intel Atom processor along with a 10.1-inch, 1,366 x 768 display, 64GB of on-board storage, an optional keyboard case and a battery rated for 10 hours of runtime. The two even weigh about the same: 1.27 pounds for the Miix, and 1.25 pounds for the WiFi-only TP Tablet.

What's missing, of course, are all the goodies that make the ThinkPad more of a premium device -- you know, NFC, mobile broadband and an active digitizer for pen input. Also, whereas the TP Tablet 2 sports dual cameras, the Miix has just a front-facing webcam, and the resolution's been downgraded from two megapixels to 1.3. Expect it to hit shelves in Q3, with a starting price of $500 (that keyboard will cost $49 extra). For now, check out our hands-on photos below.
